The Children and Families Department takes a strengths-based approach to working with each other, children, young people and families, and our partner agencies. We call this 'Our Nottinghamshire Approach'. Are you ready to be the first point of contact for families in need? As a Family Help Officer, you will play a vital role in Nottinghamshire's Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH). This position is crucial in identifying the needs and services for children and families in Nottinghamshire. You will receive and triage referrals, ensuring that families receive the right support at the right time.

Responsibilities

  • Receiving Referrals: Triage referrals related to child protection, safeguarding, and early help.
  • Assessing Needs: Explore the needs of families and assess risks to determine appropriate support options.
  • Making Decisions: Use your professional judgement to ensure families receive timely and effective support.
  • Communication: Engage in difficult conversations with families and partner agencies, ensuring clarity and compassion.
  • Documentation: Accurately record information on our internal database system (Mosaic) to maintain confidentiality and data protection.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience in Children’s Social Care, Early Help Services, or Customer Services.
  • A good general education, ideally to NVQ level 3 or equivalent experience.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and guidance affecting children and families.
  • Strong IT skills, including experience with databases and word processing.
