About the Department
The Children and Families Department takes a strengths-based approach to working with each other, children, young people and families, and our partner agencies. We call this 'Our Nottinghamshire Approach'.
Position Summary
We are seeking to appoint a permanent, part time qualified teaching assistant. The successful candidate will have demonstrable experience of working with children/young people with a range of communication and interaction needs including autism. The posts sit within the Communication and Interaction team which is part of Nottinghamshire's SEND Inclusion Service.
Key Responsibilities
- You will need to use your extensive knowledge, skills and experience to develop and advise school-based colleagues supporting non-attenders experiencing a gradual decline in attendance over a period of time; or non-attenders who have experienced a crisis and whose attendance has stopped abruptly.
- Linking with the Health-Related Education Team (HRET) and Integrated Children's Disability Service (ICDS), as appropriate and guided by the C&I teachers.
- You will be working with a range of settings to explore and advise on the additional support required to promote successful engagement for children with complex communication and interaction needs.
- The role will also include liaising with parents and teacher colleagues within the Communication and Interaction Team (specifically our Anxiety Related Non-attendance team).
Qualifications
We are looking for a Teaching Assistant who have practical experience of working with children/young people with communication and interaction needs. You will need to demonstrate some of the barriers and challenges that these children/young people encounter. You should have a working knowledge of the Neuroinclusive Education Network (NEN) training and support materials.
