The Public Health & Communities Division at Nottinghamshire County Council commissions a range of Public Health services and works with other organisations to improve health and wellbeing in the population and reduce health inequalities.
We now have a 12-month fixed term vacancy for an experienced public health professional to join our team to support the development of the Joint Strategic Needs Assessment (JSNA) alongside our approach to research, evaluation and training.
Qualified to degree level (or able to demonstrate substantial experience equivalent in breadth and rigour to degree level), you will have relevant experience in Public Health or related work as well as experience of building partnerships and working collaboratively with others.
You will be a good communicator with well-developed planning and problem-solving skills, highly organised and flexible.
The role will suit someone with initiative who is keen to work proactively and in partnership to assess population health needs to inform commissioning processes. This includes managing the entire JSNA process from initial topic identification, prioritisation and developing an annual work programme, to subsequently supporting JSNA authors, quality assurance of final products, and liaison with partners to bring attention to and encourage action on JSNA recommendations.
The role will also suit someone with an interest in research who can support the division to take an evidenced based approach to health and wellbeing interventions, ensuring the best outcomes for the local population.
The postholder will be primarily based at County Hall, Nottingham, or Meadow House, Mansfield.
Nottinghamshire County Council has an NHS Pension Direction Order in place, which means that we are able to provide ongoing access to the NHS Pension Scheme (NHSPS) where we recruit eligible new joiners to public health roles who are already in the NHSPS.
