Hybrid Trading Standards Officer - Consumer Protection

Salary £39,152 - £44,075 per annum. Market Factor Supplement Annual payment of £3000, paid in equal instalments of £250 over 12 months, due to end on 30th September 2026, pending further review.

You Will:

• Carry out inspections and lead complex investigations across a range of Trading Standards functions to ensure compliance with legislation, protecting consumers and supporting legitimate businesses.
• Investigate complaints, gather evidence and take appropriate enforcement action.
• Provide expert advice and support to businesses and provide advice through Primary Authority Partnerships, helping businesses achieve and maintain compliance.
• Lead and deliver projects, working collaboratively with internal teams and external partner agencies to achieve shared objectives for consumers, businesses and communities.
• Support and contribute to preventative initiatives, campaigns and projects that raise awareness, improve compliance and reduce the incidence of consumer detriment.
• Support, mentor, and develop colleagues, sharing knowledge and promoting high professional standards across the service.

To Succeed In This Role, You Must Have:

• A recognised Trading Standards qualification (DTS, DCATS, DCA or Stage 2 CTSI Professional Competency Framework). Applications are also welcome from part-qualified candidates who are committed to developing their professional competence through our career progression framework.
