This position has been identified as a Politically Restricted post under The Local Government and Housing Act 1989 (as amended) and the Local Government (Politically Restricted Posts) (No.2) Regulations 1990 imposing political restrictions on the holders of certain posts. As the Head of Service, Commissioning Strategy, you will work with people and partners to ensure that care and support enables people to live fulfilling lives and that we meet our responsibilities under the Care Act 2014.

What you will do:

  • Lead the strategic commissioning and market shaping of adult care services.
  • Champion support for unpaid carers across the Council and health system.
  • Oversee the Brokerage Function, our Technology Enabled Care Strategy, prevention approaches, market intelligence and implement the Council's Fee Strategy.
  • Collaborate with people that draw on care and support.
  • Collaborate with provider partners, NHS partners, the voluntary sector and district councils to ensure best value and continuous improvement.
  • Manage staff and resources, guiding virtual project teams to achieve our goals.

Qualifications:

  • A strong understanding of adult social care legislation and policy.
  • Proven experience in strategic commissioning, contract management, and quality assurance.
  • Knowledge of risk management, budget management, and project management.
