Role Overview

The role of the Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) is critical to the operation of the Mental Health Act. We require a full‑time AMHP, 37 hours per week, to work over three 12‑hour shifts per week. The post will support the rest of the team, who also work a 12‑hour shift pattern. The AMHP service is a 24‑hour service.

Responsibilities

  • Meet the local authorities’ statutory duties in line with mental health legislation
  • Support and coach colleagues across the wider system on matters relating to mental health
  • Partake in a single‑point triage system
  • Provide training and supervision to others, including AMHP trainees
  • Support Team Managers and fulfil the demanding duties of the team

Qualification Requirements

  • Be a practising AMHP or hold the relevant AMHP qualification
  • Recently qualified AMHPs will be considered on the basis of overall experience
