The Role
As a Pest Control Technician, you'll be responsible for inspecting customer premises, identifying pest-related issues, and delivering effective treatment and prevention solutions. Working across a varied customer base, you'll carry out both planned maintenance visits and reactive callouts, helping customers protect their properties from pests while ensuring full compliance with industry standards and legislation.
No two days are the same. One day you may be conducting routine inspections at a commercial site, and the next you could be resolving a complex infestation issue or advising customers on long-term pest prevention strategies.
What You'll Be Doing
- Pest Inspections & Treatment
- Carry out detailed inspections of residential, commercial, and industrial properties.
- Identify pest activity, infestation levels, and contributing environmental factors.
- Develop and implement effective treatment plans tailored to customer requirements.
- Safely apply insecticides, rodenticides, and other pest control solutions in accordance with legislation and best practice.
- Utilise a variety of treatment methods, including chemical and non-chemical solutions, traps, proofing measures, and modern pest control technologies.
- Customer Service & Advice
- Build positive relationships with customers through professional and friendly service.
- Explain findings, treatment plans, and recommendations clearly and confidently.
- Provide advice on pest prevention, proofing measures, and best practice.
- Educate customers on the risks associated with pest activity and recommend corrective actions.
- Compliance & Record Keeping
- Complete accurate service reports using handheld digital devices.
- Maintain detailed records of inspections, treatments, chemicals used, and follow-up actions.
- Ensure all work complies with health and safety legislation, company procedures, and industry standards.
- Safely store, transport, and use pest control products and equipment.
- Equipment & Continuous Improvement
- Maintain company equipment and vehicles to a high standard.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development.
- Keep up to date with industry developments, legislation, and emerging pest control techniques.
What We're Looking For
- Previous experience within the pest control industry.
- Industry-recognised qualification such as the RSPH Level 2 Award in Pest Management (or equivalent).
- Active member of either the BPCA Registered Scheme or BASIS PROMPT CPD Scheme since 1 January 2025.
- Strong customer service skills and experience working in a customer-facing environment.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
- Full UK Manual Driving Licence with no more than 6 penalty points.
- Ability to pass an Enhanced DBS check.
