About the role:
As a Grounds Person you will assist in maintaining the highest quality racing surface all year round, including maintenance of the outside areas to the highest possible standard of presentation. Additionally, you will assist in the maintenance of all track/kennel equipment and ensure the smooth running of race meetings.
Responsibilities:
- Assisting with maintenance programmes for the track under the direction of the Head Grounds Person/Grounds Manager
- Preparing and maintaining the track surface prior to and during trials and race meetings
- Use of tractors, attachments, machinery and maintenance equipment as required (with training)
- Maintaining all grass/non-running surfaces with attention to raceday and event presentation
- General maintenance of external, customer-facing areas including car parks and tarmac areas
- Ensuring all external areas are free from weeds, rubbish and leaves
- Carrying out checking and testing of racing equipment to ensure all equipment is functional and professionally presented
- Working in accordance with the Company’s Health and Safety Policy and Procedures
- Ensuring compliance with GBGB rules of racing and reporting any issues to management
- Ensuring greyhound welfare is at the heart of everything you do
- Working closely with the kennels team, racing team and officials such as GBGB
The person we are looking for as a Grounds Person has/is:
- Organised, reliable and able to work well under pressure
- Good communication and time management skills
- Flexible approach to working hours, including late evenings, weekends and Bank Holidays
- Enjoy working outdoors in all weather conditions
- Able to work independently and as part of a team
- Full clean driving licence
- Tractor driving experience (desirable)
