About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Rehabilitation Physiotherapist to join our Men’s First Team medical department. This is a pivotal role designed for a practitioner who thrives in a high-pressure, elite sporting environment and is dedicated to returning world-class athletes to peak performance. The successful candidate will work as an integral part of a progressive, multi-disciplinary medical and performance team. You will be responsible for leading and managing the end-to-end injury process for individual players, acting as the primary coordinator to bring in specialist members of the wider team, such as doctors, sports scientists, and nutritionists, at the appropriate stages of recovery.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

  • High level of skills in the clinical assessment and daily management of player injuries, overseeing the process for individual players from diagnosis to successful return to play.
  • Act as the coordinator for individual player cases, ensuring seamless integration of input from the wider multi-disciplinary team is utilized as required.
  • Design and execute innovative on-field and gym-based rehabilitation protocols that integrate physiological, biomechanical, and tactical requirements.
  • Utilise advanced objective monitoring tools to track player progress and inform safe return-to-play timelines.
  • Contribute to the club’s internal research and continuous professional development (CPD) program to ensure the medical department remains at the forefront of sports medicine.

What are we looking for

  • A minimum of 5 years of post-qualification experience in professional sport is essential.
  • Extensive experience specifically within a professional football environment, with a deep understanding of the unique physical demands and schedules of the game.
  • Flexibility and a willingness to travel are required to support the squad during away matches and tours although this job will be primarily based at the training ground.
  • A degree in Physiotherapy HCPC registration.
  • Advanced postgraduate qualifications in sports physiotherapy or rehabilitation are highly desirable.
  • ATMMiF qualification.
  • A proactive, collaborative mindset with the ability to communicate effectively with players, coaching staff, and stakeholders.
