Do you have experience in hospitality or customer service? Would you like to make a real difference in the community away from the noises of the city, surrounded by a bed of greenery? If so, we have a fantastic opportunity for you to join our Sherwood House team as a Support Worker.
The Service
Sherwood House is a registered care home which runs 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. We provide person-centred care and support to 19 elderly residents who have chosen this home as their place to retire and live happily ever after. The home is situated in the small village of Linby, which won Nottinghamshire's "best kept village" award in 2013.
Working Hours
All successful candidates will be required to work on a rota basis over a 24-hour period, including weekends and bank holidays; a bonus is paid for waking nights. Shift Patterns include: 07:00-15:00, 08:00-13:00, 08:30-12:30, 13:30-21:30, 07:00-14:30, 14:00-21:15, and 21:15-07:15 waking nights.
The Role
As a Support Worker at Sherwood House, you will play a vital role in providing practical and emotional support to our residents. Your main responsibility is to help residents live as independently as possible, while respecting their choices and preferences. Your focus will be on:
- Supporting residents with personal hygiene and personal care
- Encouraging community engagement and social activities
- Offering companionship and emotional support
This role may involve moving and handling tasks and risk management, so you must be comfortable and willing to undertake these duties.

Travelling to Sherwood House
Due to its location, candidates who can drive are highly desirable, as the home is a 7-minute drive from the High Street in Hucknall. Candidates travelling from Mansfield can use the 141 bus service to Nottingham to arrive at the project, but this service is not available for colleagues finishing at 9.30pm.
