Successful applicants will have excellent clinical, communication and leadership skills and be directly responsible for a complex caseload whilst providing specialist training, advice, mentorship teaching and support to nurses and their teams. This District Nurse role will also support and address the needs of both the professional and the leadership agenda of community nursing services.

Responsibilities
  • Have direct responsibility for a complex caseload including long term conditions and multi pathologies whilst providing specialist training, advice, mentorship teaching and support to Nurses and their teams.
  • Offer specialist clinical advice to their teams using evidence-based research and practice.
  • Provide clinical supervision and mentorship to band 6 Community Nurses.
  • Be an effective source of professional support to the management and leadership delivery of the community nursing service.
  • Support and address the needs of both the professional and the leadership agenda of community services.
Clinical Practice
  • Utilise highly developed specialised and advanced clinical knowledge covering a range of procedures and underpinned by relevant broad-based knowledge, experience, and competence as a qualified District Nurse.
  • Where appropriate to service delivery, demonstrate highly developed physical skills requiring accuracy and dexterity e.g., moving and handling techniques, clinical procedures, diagnostic tests.
  • Demonstrate independent practice responding to social, scientific, clinical, and ethical issues which are encountered.
  • Make complex judgements requiring analysis, interpretation and comparison of options by integrating complex knowledge sources in new and/or unfamiliar contexts.
