Nottingham City General Practice Alliance and Nottingham CityCare are working together to grow research across Nottingham City. We want research to be part of everyday care in both primary care and community services. This role will help us widen access to research, especially for communities who do not usually take part in studies.

Responsibilities

  • Support and coordinate clinical research across GP practices, community teams and, when suitable, people’s homes.
  • Help build a joint research portfolio for both organisations, including commercial and interventional studies.
  • Coordinate and support research studies.
  • Develop and promote new research opportunities.
  • Build research capacity within NCGPA practices and CityCare teams.
  • Lead on performance reporting and assurance.
  • Work with a range of partners such as NIHR East Midlands Regional Research Delivery Network and universities.

All posts are subject to a probationary period.

You will work with a wide range of professionals across both organisations with varying levels of research experience. This includes Advanced Practitioners, Nurses, Nursing Associates, Allied Health Professionals, Clinical Pharmacists, Pharmacy Technicians, Physician Associates, Care Coordinators, Social Prescribers, Health and Wellbeing Coaches, Mental Health Practitioners, Practice Managers, Primary Care Network Managers, Reception teams and GPs. As our research activity grows, this role may develop into leading a small team.

Qualifications

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent experience.
  • GCP Certification.
  • Minimum 2 years experience in clinical research including study set up and coordination.
  • Good knowledge and understanding of UK Policy Framework for Health and Social Care Research and the regulatory environment for research.
  • Strong organisational and administrative skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills.
  • Understanding of barriers to participation for underserved communities.
  • Ability to lead teams and complex projects.
  • Ability to work with different GP practices and professions.
  • Confident with data, reporting and performance measurement.
  • Able to explain research processes in clear, simple language.

Desirable

  • Familiarity with primary care research protocols and NIHR processes.
  • Experience with commercial studies or research income recovery.
  • Experience in design and delivery of training.
  • Willingness to adapt responsibilities as the role evolves.
  • Line management experience.
  • Interest in developing and leading a research team.
