About the Role

Recruiting a small team to operate a permanent duty function for Operational Commissioning services in Charnwood and Melton. This advert is for two Social Workers to operate the service. The successful candidates will be motivated and experienced in Adult Social Care; able to make timely, legal, defensible assessments and decisions which best support the most vulnerable adults in Leicestershire. The duty team will cover Cognitive and Physical Disability, Mental Health, Learning Disability and Autism service areas. Duty team staff will not hold a caseload but will support the immediate needs of new cases. The role requires active engagement in the local community and effective risk management as part of the duty team, supported by established managers and teams in the area. A DBS enhanced check for a regulated activity is required.

Job Purpose

Deliver excellent outcomes for people with Care Act eligibility, using the department’s operating model and ways of working to achieve excellence in social care.

About You

To apply for this post, you must:

  • Be a qualified Social Worker and registered with Social Work England.
  • Have knowledge of social work methodologies, person‑centred approaches and asset‑based social work, and relevant legislation including the Care Act, Mental Health Act and Mental Capacity Act.
  • Have experience of effective assessment and risk management delivery, and multi‑agency/multidisciplinary working and/or hospital discharge processes.
  • Have experience of partnership working with adults to identify and meet needs with creative and pragmatic solutions.
  • Be a confident communicator skilled in diplomacy, persuasion, assertiveness and conflict management, able to build effective working relationships and to work proactively both individually and as a team member.
  • Have good prioritisation and time‑management skills and hold a valid UK driving licence or access to a vehicle.
