Contract Type: Permanent

Working Hours: 21 hours per week based on a 3-week rota

Worker Type: Onsite Worker

Salary: Starting Salary is £26,824 (Level one) rising to £27,694 per annum (pro rata for part-time)

About the Role

The Senior Library Customer Advisor plays a vital role in creating a welcoming, inclusive and engaging environment for all library users.

The position involves delivering exceptional customer service, ensuring a positive experience for all visitors. Collaborating with a team of Library Customer Advisors, the postholder will encourage greater engagement with library services by offering guidance and support, ensuring the needs of the community remain central to the library experience.

About You

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Library work experience and be a good advocate for libraries
  • Ability to assist and deliver activities that promote literacy, wellbeing and educational aspirations, working with colleagues, volunteers, and partners to create a vibrant and inclusive library space.
  • Ability to support and motivate front-line colleagues, including volunteers, to foster open communication and alignment between service development and day-to-day operations.
  • Lead the team to achieve and maintain a high standard of presentation for library stock and resources and coordinate and lead on library events and activities.
  • Good communication skills including good customer service and being able to respond to a range of enquiries, in person, by phone, written or through alternative platforms including supporting customers with the completion of online and paper forms.
  • A range of technical skills to respond to customers, including good computer knowledge, to enable them to carry out tasks within the library.
  • Ability to process stock and file alphabetically and numerically, and to be able to confidently promote, deliver and support a programme of events.

A DBS enhanced check for a regulated activity is required for this post.
