As a Rechargeable Repairs Officer within the Rents and Leaseholder Team at Nottingham City Council Housing Services, you support the delivery of fair, effective, and customer‑focused income recovery services. You work with tenants and leaseholders to recover rechargeable repair debts, using proportionate and lawful approaches to secure payment while maintaining positive relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Support the delivery of income recovery services.
  • Manage the recovery of rechargeable repair debts.
  • Contact customers by telephone and in writing, explaining liability, payment options and the legal framework for debt recovery.
  • Respond to enquiries with empathy and professionalism.
  • Accurately update computer records.
  • Prepare performance data to support service improvement and business planning.
  • Represent the Council by giving evidence in Magistrates' and County Courts.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across Housing Services and the wider Council, identify process improvements and report concerns.
  • Commit to equality, inclusion and tenant participation, encouraging tenants and leaseholders to be respected partners in shaping and improving services in their communities.

Qualifications

  • A general knowledge of housing and related issues, with experience working in a housing environment.
  • Evidence of working successfully in partnership across different sectors, building and maintaining good working relationships.
  • Ability to develop and present written or verbal information clearly and concisely.
  • Creativity and problem‑solving skills, able to identify problems and create solutions.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including word processing and spreadsheet software packages.
  • Experience providing, collating and producing accurate work, such as correspondence, reports, numerical and statistical information using computerised packages.

Location

Harvey Road (NG8 3BB) will be the contracted base for this role, but the postholder will be expected to travel to other offices, including Loxley House (NG2 3NG), as required.
