About the Role
Are you passionate about local politics and want to make a real difference in your community? We are looking for a Political Assistant to support the Nottingham People’s Alliance Group, working with the Group Leader and members to help them develop their strategic direction and operate as a cohesive and effective political entity within the Council.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Supporting the Group Leader and other members in developing policies and strategies.
- Providing high quality research, analysis and intelligence on issues of interest to shape the Group’s policies and approach.
- Helping the Group communicate effectively with the public and the media.
- Ensuring members of the Group are supported and equipped to fulfil their roles.
- Helping Group members work effectively together and supporting the management of the Group.
- Managing the day-to-day operation of the Group Office and keeping track of casework.
About You
We’re looking for someone who is committed to the values of the Nottingham People’s Alliance Party. The ideal candidate will:
- Have a good understanding of local politics and how local government works.
- Be interested in, and able to build and maintain a good awareness of new legislation and political developments (local, regional and national), particularly those relating to Nottingham and the Nottingham People’s Alliance.
- Be organised and have the ability to work under pressure, managing multiple priorities.
- Have excellent research and analytical skills.
- Be able to communicate (written and verbal) effectively.
- Work well with a team and be able to build relationships with councillors and other key people.
- Be able to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information responsibly.
This post is politically restricted and offered in line with current legislation governing Political Assistant posts.
