About the Role

As a Housing Casework Advisor, you will be a vital resource for the public, offering high-quality advice and assistance on a range of housing issues with a focus on preventing homelessness. Your role will involve:

  • Conducting initial needs assessments
  • Advocating on behalf of customers
  • Liaising with various agencies
  • Maintaining accurate records
  • Assisting service users in reconnecting with Local Authority and other provisions outside the city
  • Ensuring citizens access relevant services
  • Ensuring tenants and landlords understand their legal rights and responsibilities
  • Issuing correspondence related to homelessness legislation
  • Investigating duties under homelessness legislation and supporting formal applications

  • Ability to communicate complex issues on a face to face basis demonstrating tact, diplomacy, sensitivity and customer care
  • Commitment to providing a high quality customer focussed service
  • An understanding of homelessness and the Housing Act 1996, in order to investigate possible duties owed to citizens
  • General knowledge of safeguarding
  • An understanding of why it's important to consider equality, diversity, and inclusion in all that we do
