About the Role
As a Housing Casework Advisor, you will be a vital resource for the public, offering high-quality advice and assistance on a range of housing issues with a focus on preventing homelessness. Your role will involve:
- Conducting initial needs assessments
- Advocating on behalf of customers
- Liaising with various agencies
- Maintaining accurate records
- Assisting service users in reconnecting with Local Authority and other provisions outside the city
- Ensuring citizens access relevant services
- Ensuring tenants and landlords understand their legal rights and responsibilities
- Issuing correspondence related to homelessness legislation
- Investigating duties under homelessness legislation and supporting formal applications

Key Priorities
- Ability to communicate complex issues on a face to face basis demonstrating tact, diplomacy, sensitivity and customer care
- Commitment to providing a high quality customer focussed service
- An understanding of homelessness and the Housing Act 1996, in order to investigate possible duties owed to citizens
- General knowledge of safeguarding
- An understanding of why it's important to consider equality, diversity, and inclusion in all that we do
