About the team: You’ll be part of a small, friendly team focused on waste and cleansing public engagement, with the opportunity to work flexibly in a hybrid role and access a range of council-wide benefits.
About the Role: We’re looking for a proactive and creative Engagement and Behaviour Change Officer to join Nottingham City Council’s Waste and Cleansing Service on a fixed-term maternity cover. This is a great opportunity to shape how we work with residents and businesses to reduce waste, improve recycling, and keep Nottingham clean.
What you’ll be doing:
- Lead the planning and delivery of engagement campaigns that encourage positive behaviour change across the city.
- Your work will help improve recycling rates, reduce contamination, and tackle environmental issues such as littering and fly-tipping.
- Design and deliver creative campaigns that engage and educate the public and promote correct recycling and waste disposal behaviour.
- Lead targeted campaigns linked to local priorities and national initiatives.
- Make it easier for people to recycle more and waste less.
- Work closely with residents, businesses and community groups.
- Create engaging content for digital, social media and offline channels.
- Measure what works, using insight and data to improve future campaigns.
- Build strong relationships with teams across the Council and external partners to maximise impact.
About You: We’re looking for someone who can connect with people and turn ideas into meaningful action.
- Experience of engagement, campaigns, or behaviour change work, particularly in a public-facing realm.
- Experience creating communications and engagement tools (online and offline).
- A good understanding of how behaviour change happens in practice.
- Experience evaluating campaigns or programmes and using insight to improve delivery.
- Strong digital skills including social media and standard IT packages.
