About the Role
Nottingham City Council are looking to appoint a Cook at Crocus Fields short breaks unit for children and young people with disabilities. Crocus Fields offers care to young people who have severe learning disabilities and physical disabilities, many of whom are on the autistic spectrum. The role requires an ability to provide a flexible catering service to meet the needs of service users and staff. The principal duties will include:
- Providing meals to meet varied dietary needs of the young people
- Ordering and purchasing food
- Menu planning
- Managing the food budget
- Offering nutritious and well-balanced meals
- Completing all the necessary legislative administrative tasks and domestic duties
This post is predominately one where you will be expected to work using your own initiative. You will work Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday and weekends on a rota basis and undertake any training as required to meet the needs of the home.
About You
The ideal candidate will have:
- Ability to work on own initiative or as part of a team
- A considerate and positive approach to working with people of different race, age, culture, gender, sexual orientation and physical/learning disabilities
- Able to provide economical nutritious well-presented meals of good quality that meet the nutritional needs of young people, within the resources available
- Able to cater for special diets relating to culture, health or religion
- Experience of cooking for similar numbers
- Able to plan a menu to provide for a diverse client group
A DBS enhanced check for a regulated activity is required for this post.
