We are looking for five experienced strategic leaders to play a key role in preparing the organisation for Local Government Reorganisation (LGR). These are high-profile roles supporting the senior leadership team to ensure we are fully prepared for major transformation.
About the Role
You will act as the coordination point for all LGR activity within one of five directorates, leading business performance, driving transformation, and ensuring strong governance, communication and readiness across all services.
Key areas of responsibility include:
- Directorate business strategy and performance management
- Policy development (including Equalities, Diversity & Inclusion)
- Governance, forward planning and decision‑making support
- Service planning and readiness assessment
- Partnership management and cross‑Council working
- Internal and external communications and engagement planning
- Risk management, emergency planning and business continuity
- Leading key projects aligned to LGR workstreams
You will also line‑manage the Performance & Quality Manager.

We are looking for someone who can demonstrate:
- Senior leadership experience in a complex organisation
- Proven success driving change, service improvement and innovation
- Strong political awareness and the ability to work confidently with senior officers and elected members
- Experience creating and delivering strategic vision, with excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills
- A deep commitment to Equality, Diversity & Inclusion
- Experience of policy development, governance, project leadership and performance frameworks
- Ability to influence, collaborate and work across services to deliver shared goals
