Ready to take the next step in your social work career?

At Nottingham City Children's Services, we're committed to helping social workers develop, thrive and progress throughout their careers.

We are looking for experienced social workers to join our Locality team as Advanced Social Work Practitioners.

Our front line Locality Teams have recently been reshaped to reflect the Family First Partnership reforms to ensure that children receive help and support from the right person at the right time, with seamless support from both their professional and family network.

As an Advanced Social Work Practitioner, you'll combine direct work with children and families with a key practice leadership role. You'll hold a caseload of complex children and family work, while providing guidance, coaching and support to colleagues across the team.

Working across Child in Need, Child Protection and Care Proceedings, you'll use your knowledge and experience to undertake assessments to support effective decision making, manage risk, and help achieve positive outcomes for children and families. You'll play an important role in developing practice, supporting less experienced social workers and promoting high-quality, relationship-based social work.

This is an ideal opportunity for experienced practitioners who are passionate about practice excellence and want to extend their influence beyond their own caseload while continuing to work directly with children and families.

You’ll bring:

  • A recognised social work qualification and Social Work England registration

  • Significant post-qualification experience working with children, young people and families

  • Strong safeguarding, assessment and risk management skills

  • Experience of Child Protection, Children in Need and Care Proceedings work

  • The ability to coach, mentor and support colleagues

  • Confidence in complex decision making and multi-agency working

  • A commitment to achieving the best outcomes for children and families

Through reflective supervision, coaching and ongoing professional development, you'll be supported to strengthen your practice leadership skills and continue progressing your career within a service that values learning, development and professional excellence.

Our career pathway recognises growing expertise, professional influence and leadership, creating opportunities to progress into management roles while continuing to make a meaningful difference to the lives of children, young people and families across Nottingham.
