Overview
The post holder will be working for Nottingham City Council, Enviroenergy department as an EE Monitor Technician. The role involves high quality electrical work, mechanical installations or associated infrastructure works of a specialist nature on local and national levels. The role predominantly supports works on national domestic properties within the portfolio and may include work on local district heating customers. Tasks include servicing and maintaining the current prepayment solution installed in National district heating properties, installing the in-house decentralised energy payment metering solution (EE Monitor), commissioning these and undertaking related installation works (e.g., fitting routers, installing data loggers or heat meters).
Responsibilities
- Lead Specialist Energy and Infrastructure Projects: deliver high-quality electrical, mechanical, energy, and infrastructure projects locally and nationally; manage works related to London Road Heat Station, District Heating Networks, CHP schemes, and other energy assets; support full project lifecycle from site surveys to handover; install and integrate EE Monitors to support metering and billing services.
- Collaborate with Developers, Clients, and Project Leads to meet project requirements and align with Council objectives; facilitate clear communication among stakeholders from inception to completion; provide expert guidance on technical specifications, regulatory compliance, and best practices.
- Ensure Accreditation and Compliance: certify that works meet industry standards and regulatory requirements; ensure health and safety compliance.
- Drive Innovation in the Energy Sector: contribute to developing and implementing innovative solutions in the deregulated energy market; keep up-to-date with industry advancements to improve performance and sustainability of energy infrastructure projects.
About You / Qualifications
- NVQ Level 3 qualification in an Electrical discipline
- 18th Edition Wiring Regulations & Achievement Measurement 2 (AM2)
- Ability to read and understand technical diagrams and blueprints
- Experience of working in a customer facing environment
- Ability to perform acceptance testing on mechanical/electrical products and complete necessary quality sign-off documentation
- Hold a full current driving licence
- Willingness to travel across the UK with overnight stays for up to a week on a regular basis
Preferred but Not Essential
- Electrical Inspection and Testing – 2391
- English Language Requirement under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) for public sector workers
- Participation in the on-call rota
Location, Hours and Benefits
Location: UK Wide
Working Hours: 37 hours per week with on-call attendance outside of normal hours
Salary: Starting £46,142 (Level 1) rising to £49,282 (Level 4) pro rata for part-time
