About the Role
We are seeking two Council Tax Administration & Recovery Officers to support the effective administration, billing, collection, and recovery of Council Tax accounts. The role involves handling customer enquiries, maintaining accurate records, negotiating payment arrangements, and progressing recovery action in line with legislation and council policies. The successful candidate will have strong communication and organisational skills, the ability to manage sensitive situations professionally, good attention to detail and be familiar with Microsoft Office. Experience in a collections environment is desirable but full training will be given.
About You
- Excellent communication and customer service skills, with the ability to handle sensitive conversations professionally while supporting residents with payment difficulties and resolving disputes effectively.
- Strong organisational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to prioritise workloads, meet deadlines, and work collaboratively within a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Basic IT skills and the ability to learn new systems and software quickly, including Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team, using problem-solving skills to resolve enquiries and support customers effectively.
- Previous experience in administration, customer service, finance, or local government would be beneficial, although full training will be provided and prior council tax experience is not essential.
A DBS enhanced check for a regulated activity is required for this post.
