About the Role
The successful candidates will complete an Electrical apprenticeship in a specified timeframe and gain on-the-job knowledge and experience. You will develop and apply characteristics of the NCC agreed behaviours and values in all activities and actively promote the Council’s vision, values, aims, objectives and priorities, putting our citizens first through the delivery of best value services.
Key Accountabilities
- Undertake on-site training alongside and under the supervision of a qualified electrician in all aspects of electrical work.
- Use engineering knowledge and understanding to apply technical and practical skills.
- Contribute to the design, development, construction, commissioning, operation and maintenance of products, equipment, processes, electric systems or services.
- Work on a range of electrical equipment and systems, including switchboards, motors, cables, fuses, thermal relays, protective devices, heating, lighting, air conditioning and metering equipment.
- Ensure electrical safety and compliance with statutory and non-statutory requirements.
About You
The ideal candidate will have:
- Experience of working in a team and individually.
- The ability to organise self/materials/tasks, use own initiative, prioritise workload and work to deadlines.
- The ability to understand measurements and carry out calculations.
- Good interpersonal skills.
- A customer-focused attitude and a desire to deliver excellent customer service.
Entry / Eligibility Requirements
- Evidence of Maths and English qualifications at grade C/5 or above upon request.
- Willingness to work towards completing functional skills level 2 in addition to the apprenticeship.
- Minimum age of 16 years by 31 August 2026.
- Commitment to gaining a driving licence before completion of the apprenticeship.
- Non-UK nationals must have been ordinarily resident in the UK for at least three years.
