About the Role
Join Nottingham City Council Housing Services as an Energy Technical Officer within our Sustainable Energy Team, helping to deliver programmes that improve homes, reduce energy use and support healthier communities. In this varied role, you’ll oversee contractor performance on site, ensuring works are delivered safely, to specification, on time and within budget.
You will carry out inspections throughout projects, maintain accurate system records, and work collaboratively with constructor partners, colleagues and residents to keep projects on track and customer focused. You’ll monitor quality and compliance with legislation and council standards, support project planning and contract documentation, and respond promptly to queries, variations and requests.
A key part of the role is building positive relationships with tenants - visiting homes during works, addressing concerns and resolving access or welfare issues with sensitivity and respect. You’ll also contribute to continuous improvement by supporting policies, procedures and performance management across Warm Homes and energy programmes.
About You
The ideal candidate will have:
1. Experience of supervising or coordinating resources and staff to deliver high-quality services within agreed standards and timelines.
2. Strong knowledge of compliance requirements, including health & safety legislation and relevant construction or housing standards.
3. Proven ability to carry out site inspections, assess work quality, and ensure projects meet required specifications.
4. Experience of working with budgets and an understanding of financial regulations in a project or operational environment.
5. Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with experience of working with customers, contractors and internal stakeholders.
6. Strong organisational and IT skills, with the ability to manage project information, support service improvements, and maintain accurate records.
Please ensure you demonstrate clearly how you meet the 6 requirements in your CV & supporting document.
