We’re Hiring: 1 x Light Vehicle Mechanic – Nottingham City Council
£36,363 – £39,152 per year (with guaranteed annual pay awards & progression)
Equivalent to £28.34 – £30.52 per hour
Plus £980 tool allowance (paid monthly)
⏱ 37 hours per week plus overtime at time-and-a-half – plenty available
Monday–Friday only – no weekends, ever
34 days holiday (incl. bank holidays) – rising to 41 days after 5 years

About the Role
As part of our Fleet Services team, you will maintain, repair, and inspect a wide range of vehicles, including:
- Light commercials
- Minibuses
- Cars
- Electric/hybrid models
Your work will ensure our city’s essential services operate safely and reliably. Day-to-day, you will:
- Service and repair light goods vehicles, minibuses and other Council vehicles
- Diagnose and repair hydraulic, and electrical faults
- Prepare vehicles for MOT and safety checks
- Carry out welding, fabrication, and body repairs
- Respond to breakdowns and accident-damaged vehicles
- Maintain accurate records and high workshop standards
Guaranteed Interview – Minimum Criteria
We are looking for candidates with:
- Level 3 City & Guilds in Light Motor Vehicle Engineering (or equivalent)
- Full UK Driving Licence
- DVSA inspection & testing qualification
- IMI Level 3 in Electric/Hybrid vehicles (or willingness to train)
- Knowledge of pneumatics, hydraulics, and 12/24v systems
(Experience with municipal/electric vehicles is desirable but not essential)
