About the Role

The Gas Compliance Manager is responsible for ensuring all gas-related activities across the Local Authority are delivered safely, legally, and in full compliance with current regulations and industry standards. This role leads a small team of Gas Engineers, providing day-to-day management, technical guidance, and performance oversight to ensure high-quality delivery of gas works and mechanical services. The position is strongly IT-focused and primarily office-based, overseeing compliance records, asset information, certification, audit data, and maintenance planning through digital systems. The manager coordinates planned and reactive gas and mechanical works, reviews technical documentation, conducts compliance checks, and ensures all work is completed in line with safety requirements and operational procedures.

About You

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Qualifications in Commercial or Domestic Gas ACS
  • Experience in managing or supporting Gas Safe registration
  • Conducting technical gas audits and site inspections
  • Overseeing contractors and internal engineers
  • Ensuring gas works meet legal and specification standards
  • Driving improvements from audit results and compliance data

Essential knowledge includes:

  • Gas Safety Legislation (Installation and Use) Regulations 1998
  • Gas Safe Register Requirements
  • Approved Codes of Practice (ACOP)
