About the Role
You will become part of an experienced team working with dedicated officers, in a fast-paced environment. Working as part of a team your work will focus around ensuring businesses are compliant by carrying out inspections, undertaking criminal investigations and leading on intelligence led projects that meet the Council’s objectives of supporting businesses and protecting residents from harm.
Officers will receive training but will be expected to manage their own workload investigations, inspections or project work. You will be supervised by a Senior Trading Standards Officer but using your own initiative and enforcement experience to progress incidents and carry out necessary enforcement work. This can be providing advice via letters, issuing notices or undertaking a criminal investigation.
About You
To apply for this post, you must be able to evidence in your application how you meet the following criteria:
- Education to a NVQ level 4 or equivalent or equivalent experience in the regulatory compliance or law enforcement sector.
- Understand the legal system and the protocols to follow to carry out investigations lawfully and ethicall.y
- Experience of analysing data or interpreting information and research.
- Evidence of consistently meeting deadlines and managing workload with minimal supervision and using initiative whilst under pressure.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, the ability to tailor their approach depending on the recipient.
- Enthusiasm and the ability to learn new skills and work in new areas of law that they may not be familiar with.
- Highly motivated with transferable skills to adapt to a trading standards enforcement role
