About the Role
Following the successful promotion of the current postholder, an exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly skilled and experienced specialist teacher to contribute to the success of the Autism Outreach Team by joining the team as a Senior Teacher. The Autism Outreach Team is a well-regarded and welcoming team, consisting of specialist teachers and practitioners with a wealth of knowledge and experience, and a passion for inclusion. We work with mainstream education settings across Leicestershire to support positive outcomes for autistic pupils in Key Stages 1–5. We are committed to understanding autism as difference rather than deficit and, as part of the Specialist Teaching Service, we aim to improve opportunities, outcomes and experiences for children and young people with SEND in partnership with families, educational settings and organisations.
We welcome applications from experienced specialist teachers who wish to take on a leadership role and contribute to the development of the team. This will include leading on specific areas of work, providing effective performance management within the team, and deputising for the Team Manager as appropriate. LCC’s Autism Outreach Team is the East Midlands’ Neuro Inclusive Education Network’s regional partner and, as such, developing, quality assurance and delivering training to a range of audiences is a key part of the role. You will have a caseload responsibility, which will focus on enabling schools to implement a range of teaching and learning strategies to support the progress and inclusion of pupils with a diagnosis of autism or communication and interaction needs. You will be confident in providing support and advice to children and young people with a diagnosis of autism or communication and interaction needs, their families/carers and educational settings within a multi-agency context. Good opportunities for career progression will be promoted through a wide range of professional development, including access to training and mentoring. An enhanced with barred list DBS check is required for this post.

- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills, including the ability to work effectively as part of a team, delegate appropriately, solve problems, and resolve conflict sensitively and decisively.
