Leicestershire Music is passionate about transforming young lives through music. Working with thousands of children and young people across the county, we provide instrumental and vocal tuition, ensembles, events and performance opportunities that inspire creativity, confidence and achievement. We’re looking for a highly motivated music leader who is passionate about changing young people’s lives through music.

About the Role

In the new Academic Year, we will be working with Oakfield Short Stay school to deliver 1:1 and small group music lessons across their 7 sites to provide their pupils with fun, engaging and rewarding opportunities to develop and explore their musicality and develop their skills, confidence, wellbeing and belonging. The role is for 2 days per week and will primarily use contemporary music instruments to engage the pupils. We are therefore looking for someone with experience of delivering music sessions with guitars, bass guitars, drums, keyboards, vocals and music technology.

You will need to be flexible with your approach and have experience of delivering music sessions in SEMH settings and ability to coach and mentor young people through music. An enhanced with barred list DBS check is required for this post.

About You

To apply for this post, you must be able to evidence in your application how you meet the following criteria:

  • Music qualification (ABRSM or Similar), teaching Qualification or relevant training in field of expertise e.g Trinity/Guildhall or Demonstratable experience within the below.
  • Experience of delivering high quality music education in schools
  • Knowledge of safeguarding children legislation and practice in schools
  • Knowledge of teaching methodologies
  • Good interpersonal skills; able to use tact and diplomacy as required
  • Ability to form good working relationships with a variety of people
  • Punctual, reliable, able to work without supervision, Creative, reflective practitioner
