We are looking to recruit an Assistant Accountant to work within the Financial Analysis & Information Team (FAIT), supporting financial management, budgeting and monitoring primarily for the Adults & Cultural Services. The post provides opportunities for future progression.
About the Role
As an Assistant Accountant, you will be an important member of the team and be able to:
- To provide information and liaise with budget holders and finance business partners to assist in the preparation and monitoring of budgets, on a timely and accurate basis.
- To assist in the production of final accounts at service level including the assembly and evaluation of relevant financial data.
- To undertake the preparation and completion of statistical returns including grant claims and government returns ensuring compliance with set requirements.
- To provide financial advice and exchange of financial information with managers, and other stakeholders both internal and external.

Ensure that financial records are accurately and regularly maintained to comply with financial regulations and develop appropriate procedures and systems.
About You
To apply for this post, you must be able to:
- Hold at least an NVQ level 4, or equivalent, qualification in a relevant area.
- Demonstrate knowledge and experience of budgeting, management accounts, and general accounting.
- Interpret and use financial information to inform decision and manage risks. Be competent in the use of Microsoft Office Software especially Excel.
- Champion continuous improvement.
- Manage your time effectively to ensure that tasks are completed within set deadlines, being flexible as required.
- Work effectively individually and as part of a team.
- Tailor communication to meet different and diverse needs, maintaining consistency of key messages, developing good and appropriate relationships with all stakeholders.
