An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Climate Resilience team to play a leading role in delivering the Council's commitments and strategic outcomes on climate change and the environment.

About the Role

  • You will lead on and support the identification, development and delivery of projects and initiatives that support the achievement of the Council's environmental commitments.
  • You will support the development and delivery of environmental policies and strategies.
  • You will be responsible for line managing a small dedicated team.
  • You will work in partnership with both internal and external partners and stakeholders, while building and maintaining effective working relationships.
  • You will produce technical and non-technical reports, that require the analyses and interpretation of data and information and will be required on occasions to present reports to a range of audiences, including elected members.

About You

  • Relevant environmental qualification(s) or equivalent work experience in an environmental area.
  • Experience of developing and delivering environmental policies and strategies.
  • Experience of successfully developing and managing projects and initiatives.
  • Ability to analyse and interpret data and information to produce technical and non-technical reports.
  • Ability and confidence to develop and present reports and presentations to a diverse range of audiences.
  • Ability to work with a range of partners and stakeholders, and of building and maintaining effective working relationships.
  • Experience of managing staff.
  • Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team.
  • Ability to manage complex processes and have excellent organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise work within tight timescales whilst working under pressure.
  • You must also have an understanding of, and commitment to, equality, diversity and inclusion.
