About the Role

The Waste Management Supervisor will supervise the Waste Transfer Station and internal/external haulage operations, providing visible leadership and direction for the team of operatives and HGV drivers. Responsibilities include managing and operating plant and equipment (HGVs, loading shovels, telehandlers, and other site equipment), supervising staff, aiding operational performance, financial management, staff training and development, and ensuring statutory duties are met with robust service delivery.

About You

  • A GCSE or equivalent in Maths and English
  • Qualifications: BTEC, NVQ3 or equivalent in a relevant discipline, HGV licence, Driver CPC, Loading shovel/plant ticket, train the trainer qualification, WAMITAB CoTC Level 3 (or willingness to work towards them)
  • Experience: Supervision of employees in the waste management or haulage industry, management of HGV drivers in accordance with driver and vehicle legislation, work in waste carriage or related fields, planning logistics or vehicle movements, assessment of defects from daily driver checks, working in health and safety, environmental and quality management systems (ideally within waste management)
  • Knowledge of driver and vehicle legislation and practices
  • Ability to work efficiently under constantly changing pressures and engage with key contractors effectively
  • Computer literacy and familiarity with MS Office or equivalent and industry‑standard software
  • A full, valid driving licence
