Could you inspire the next generation of teachers and trainers?

We’re looking for an engaging and supportive sessional tutor to deliver the Level 3 Award in Education and Training, helping learners develop the knowledge, skills and confidence they need to begin their journey in education and training.

About the Role

As a Casual Sessional Tutor, you will plan and deliver engaging, inclusive and high-quality teaching for learners undertaking the Level 3 Award in Education and Training. You will support learners to develop the knowledge, skills and confidence needed to take their first steps into teaching or training, adapting your approach to meet a range of individual learning needs and starting points.

You will be responsible for preparing and delivering learning sessions, providing guidance and support throughout the programme, and assessing learners’ work in line with the requirements of the qualification. This will include providing constructive feedback, monitoring learner progress, maintaining accurate records and supporting learners to successfully complete their programme.

You will create a positive and supportive learning environment that encourages participation, builds confidence and promotes high standards of teaching and learning. You will also work collaboratively with colleagues within the Workforce Skills and Employment curriculum area to support effective programme delivery, quality assurance and a positive learner experience.

As this is a casual sessional role, teaching will be offered according to programme delivery requirements. We are particularly interested in applicants who can bring practical teaching or training experience to the role and who are enthusiastic about supporting adults to develop and progress within education and training.

An enhanced DBS check is required for this post.

For information on our approach to the recruitment of ex-offenders, please see our policy statement.

  • Hold a recognised teaching or training qualification at Level 3 or above, or an equivalent relevant qualification.
  • Have relevant teaching, training or learning and development experience, ideally working with adult learners.
  • Have experience of planning and delivering engaging, inclusive learning sessions that meet a range of learner needs.
  • Have experience of assessing learners’ work and providing constructive feedback to support achievement and progression.
  • Demonstrate a good understanding of effective teaching, learning and assessment practice, including the requirements and responsibilities of teachers and trainers.
  • Have strong communication, interpersonal and organisational skills, with the ability to motivate, encourage and build confidence in learners.

In addition, we also expect you to share our commitment to our values and to delivering accessible and inclusive services which meet the needs of all of our residents. You will be asked to demonstrate your understanding of these commitments as part of the selection process.
