We are seeking a Compliance Manager to lead and strengthen our Compliance function. In this pivotal role, you will ensure robust governance, regulatory alignment, and operational resilience across the Society. You will work collaboratively to embed best practices, support organisational integrity, and help us meet our regulatory obligations while fostering a culture of transparency and accountability.
Here's a taste of what you will be doing as a Compliance Manager at Nottingham Building Society:
- Compliance Governance: Manage operating rhythms, governance forums, planning cycles, and committee reporting to ensure effective oversight.
- Regulatory Alignment: Provide operational support to meet Senior Managers Regime (SMR) requirements and maintain compliance standards.
- Compliance Universe Management: Own and update the Compliance Universe, mapping obligations to policies, procedures, and controls, and provide insights for assurance planning.
- Policy Oversight: Oversee Compliance-owned policies, ensuring timely review, governance, and alignment with regulatory requirements.
- Regulatory Change & Horizon Scanning: Lead horizon scanning, assess emerging regulatory developments, produce impact summaries, and coordinate change responses.
- Regulatory Engagement: Support SMF16 with regulatory correspondence, submissions, evidence management, and internal coordination.
- Risk & Control Assurance: Facilitate departmental RCSAs, evaluate control effectiveness, and maintain alignment with the wider Risk Management Framework.
- Reporting & Business Continuity: Produce MI dashboards, track audit findings, and maintain the Compliance Business Continuity Plan, while supporting recruitment and training.
About you:
- Knowledge & Skills: Strong understanding of compliance and regulatory requirements; ability to simplify complex regulations; excellent communication and collaboration skills; highly organised with a proactive, improvement-focused mindset.
- Experience: Background in regulated financial services; experience in second line compliance within a three lines of defence model; skilled in MI reporting and visualisation (e.g., Power BI); familiar with RCSA facilitation, governance forums, SMR implementation, and regulatory change management.
- Behaviours: Builds trust-based relationships; applies critical thinking and data-driven decision-making; manages priorities effectively; maintains accuracy and attention to detail; embraces change and promotes a strong compliance culture.
