Join us as a Lending Portfolio Specialist, where you'll play a pivotal role in managing and nurturing a diverse portfolio of lending relationships. In this dynamic position, you'll support the Lending Portfolio Manager in overseeing a range of existing customer accounts from limited company buy-to-let and commercial investment portfolios to complex residential mortgages. You'll help ensure strong credit stewardship across intricate transactions while working closely with colleagues across Lending, Legal, and Credit Risk.

Here's a taste of what you will be doing as a Lending Portfolio Specialist at Nottingham Building Society:

  • Act as a subject matter expert for Lending customers, supporting the development of in-life management strategies and controls.
  • Conduct loan facility reviews, assess contract variations, manage revaluations, oversee watchlist accounts, and support recovery cases.
  • Maintain portfolio quality through strong credit risk assessment and effective use of mandate.
  • Mentor colleagues, promoting a culture of expertise and continuous development.
  • Apply sound judgement to identify risks, prioritise effectively, and recommend mitigations.
  • Stay current with mortgage regulations and ensure processes remain compliant.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to enhance customer outcomes and portfolio performance.
  • Contribute to strategic projects to evolve lending practices.
  • Produce accurate, timely MI reporting and analysis.
  • Ensure compliance with MCOB and Customer Due Diligence (CDD) requirements.

About you:

  • Strong knowledge of financial services legislation (MCOB, Data Protection Act, TCF, Consumer Duty) and conduct/operational risk.
  • Expertise in company structures, security types, and interpreting financial statements.
  • Good understanding of Land Law, conveyancing, land registration, and Housing Act legislation.
  • Proven credit management experience, particularly across Commercial and Limited Company Buy-to-Let, including complex structures and post-contract variations.
  • Ability to analyse and interpret business data to inform decision-making and planning.
  • Track record of delivering results in a fast-paced, risk-focused environment.
  • Strong stakeholder and relationship management skills, both internal and external, including third-party partners.
  • Excellent communication and leadership capability, with experience coaching and developing colleagues.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, make sound judgements, and drive continuous improvement and cultural change.
  • Good market, customer, and intermediary insight.
  • Experience contributing to or leading project workstreams, delivering against objectives.
