As a Financial Accountant, you'll play a key role in maintaining a strong financial control environment across your designated group entities.

Reporting into the Financial Accounting & Control team, you'll be responsible for preparing statutory accounts, coordinating interim and year-end audits, and ensuring regulatory reporting is delivered accurately and on time.

Working closely with colleagues across Finance and the wider business, you'll provide technical accounting expertise, support continuous improvements to financial reporting, and ensure robust financial governance.

Your work will contribute directly to delivering high-quality financial services that support better outcomes for our residents.

  • How you'll do it
  • Prepare quarterly and annual statutory accounts for designated group entities, together with supporting schedules.
  • Lead analytical reviews of financial statements to facilitate smooth interim and year-end audit processes.
  • Maintain and reconcile intercompany balances, investments and borrowings, ensuring statutory accounting schedules remain accurate.
  • Manage the delivery of assigned interim and final audits, working collaboratively with internal and external auditors.
  • Support the preparation and submission of regulatory returns, including Financial Viability Assessments (FVA) and Companies House filings.
  • Prepare monthly control account reconciliations to ensure a robust financial control framework.
  • Produce quarterly financial health reporting, identifying key risks and providing assurance to management and the Audit & Risk Committee.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives across the Financial Accounting & Control function.
  • Partner with Finance Business Partners and operational teams to ensure financial reconciliations are completed accurately and on time.
  • Contribute to departmental performance reporting, KPI monitoring and the development of best practice across the team.

Essential

  • Fully qualified CCAB accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIPFA or equivalent) with evidence of continuing professional development.
  • Experience preparing statutory accounts and delivering financial reporting within a complex organisation.
  • Strong knowledge of regulatory financial returns and statutory filings, including Financial Viability Assessments (FVA) and Companies House submissions.
  • Experience managing interim and year-end audit processes.
  • Excellent technical accounting knowledge with the ability to provide expert advice across the organisation.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to build effective relationships across a range of stakeholders.
  • A collaborative approach with a commitment to continuous improvement and delivering excellent customer service.
