Notting Hill Genesis, one of London's largest housing associations, is recruiting two Legal Assistants on 9-month fixed-term contracts to join our Repairs team, supporting the management of complex legal cases with a particular focus on disrepair matters.

What you'll do

  • Manage a caseload of legal matters, with a particular focus on disrepair cases and other housing management issues requiring legal support.
  • Prepare, draft and review legal documentation, bundles, evidence and witness statements.
  • Work closely with Repairs, Housing, Safeguarding and other operational teams to ensure cases are progressed effectively and risks are identified early.
  • Liaise with panel solicitors and external stakeholders where specialist legal support is required.
  • Provide practical advice, training and guidance to operational colleagues on legal processes, risks and housing management issues.
  • Represent NHG in external settings, including court hearings, multi-agency meetings, mediation and case review panels where appropriate.
  • Maintain accurate records, update systems and monitor case data to provide clear oversight of performance and risk.

The ideal candidate

  • Experience of working on disrepair matters or housing litigation cases.
  • Understanding of social housing, tenancy management or leasehold-related legal issues.
  • Legal drafting skills and experience preparing legal documentation.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgement, identify risks and elevate issues appropriately.
  • Familiarity with the Civil Procedure Rules, particularly in relation to recovery and legal action.
  • Experience working with legal case management, debt recovery, housing-related legal matters or similar legal processes within a legal practice, housing association or comparable environment.
