The predicted salary is between 50000 - 60000 £ per year.
You’ll lead the delivery of structural risk assessment programmes across our high‑risk residential buildings, ensuring homes are safe and compliant with building safety requirements. Working within the Building Safety team, you’ll manage structural safety risks, support the development of building safety cases, and maintain the Golden Thread of information.
How you’ll do it:
- Develop and manage a programme of structural risk assessments across high‑risk buildings, using asset data to prioritise activity.
- Appoint and manage structural engineers, ensuring competency, quality of outputs, and value for money.
- Review and quality‑check structural risk assessments, ensuring accurate identification and management of risks.
- Manage contractor competency in line with Building Safety legislation.
- Monitor agreed key performance indicators (KPIs) for both contractors and consultants.
- Coordinate follow‑up actions, investigations, and remedial works through to completion, working with specialist contractors where required.
- Support the development of building safety cases, contributing structural safety sections and responding to queries from the Building Safety Regulator.
- Act as a structural safety expert, providing advice across the organisation and supporting compliance with the Building Safety Act and related legislation.
The ideal candidate:
- Chartered Structural Engineer (MIStructE/FIStructE) or Associate Member of IStructE (AIStructE) with significant structural engineering experience and a relevant degree.
- Experience of working with occupied residential buildings and residential building construction documents.
- Experience of quality checking the work of structural engineers.
- Experience of contract management.
- Good understanding of the Building Safety Act 2022 and associated legislation.
- Excellent information retrieval, accuracy and information management skills.
- Experience in project management and coordination, handling multiple projects concurrently.
- Experience in structural inspections and interpreting Structural Appraisal reports.
Desirable:
- Previous experience of completing structural risk assessments of residential buildings.
- Experience of responding to structural‑related queries from the building safety regulator within defined deadlines.
- Formal project management qualification such as APM or PRINCE2, or extensive demonstrable experience delivering and coordinating complex and large projects.
Hybrid working arrangements:
At least three days a week in an office or community/site‑based setting. On other days, working from home, depending on work needs.
