Overview

Engage with pupils in Years 3–6, delivering individual lessons (35 minutes) across a range of musical styles with a strong emphasis on developing musicianship. The role is on a self‑employed basis, based on term time only.

Responsibilities

  • Teach individual singing lessons to pupils in Years 3–6.
  • Plan and deliver lessons of 35 minutes each, ensuring a regular weekly schedule.
  • Incorporate Kodály approach where appropriate and support the school’s music curriculum.
  • Create and maintain a personal timetable that aligns with the school’s term dates.
  • Invoice parents directly for lessons and set your own charging rate.
  • Provide up‑to‑date DBS information and participate in child‑protection screening.
  • Submit a written notice to the school of any rate change at least one term in advance.

Qualifications

  • Experience teaching singing to primary‑school pupils.
  • Knowledge of or experience with the Kodály methodology is advantageous.
  • Clear DBS Update Service record.
  • Eligible to work in the United Kingdom.

Contract and Payment

The teacher will be self‑employed; the school and GDST are not agents for invoicing or payment. You are free to set your own rate and will invoice parents directly.
