Job Responsibilities:
- Under the direction of the Creative Director, show supervisors, and department head, responsible for the precise creation of digital textures using photographic reference material or conceptual artwork.
- Maintain daily communication with the CG Supervisor for direction and feedback.
- Create photorealistic textures for digital assets using photographic references and conceptual art.
- Collaborate closely with the modelling team to ensure correct positioning and scaling of UVs.
- Work with the Lead Generalist to achieve the best results from texture to render.
- Troubleshoot material representation from organic to mechanical elements, seeking the best solution for each shot.
- Maintain high-quality standards and meet established deadlines.
- Work with the look development team to resolve technical issues and optimise assets for rendering.
- Communicate effectively with the Creative Director, department heads, coordinators, and other leaders, keeping them informed of progress and technical issues.
- Coordinate with the show supervisor and producer on progress, schedules, and deadlines.
- Proficiently handle main tools such as Mari, Substance, and Unreal.
- Lead the implementation of best practice standards in pipelines for texture artists at Cinesite, based on industry experience.
Requirements:
- Strong creative ability and deep knowledge of techniques for generating texture images using photographs and digital painting.
- Complete understanding of the texturing process and ability to interpret designs and manipulate photographic references.
- Previous experience creating textures for photorealistic digital assets, both organic and mechanical.
- Advanced knowledge of Photoshop, Substance, and Mari; functional mastery of Maya and UVs; good understanding of Zbrush or Mudbox.
- Experience working with Unreal.
- Experience in look development, including work with shading.
- Broad understanding of the colour space of images related to textures.
- Solid knowledge of visual effects (VFX).
- Ability to work in a team and solve specific texture problems.
- Excellent time management and communication skills.
- Basic modelling knowledge is valued, although not essential.
