We are currently recruiting for a Yard & Forklift Operative to join a small, fast-paced team at a regulated industrial site. This is a hands-on role supporting the safe and efficient sorting of gas cylinders, unloading and loading deliveries, and maintaining a clean, hazard-aware work environment. You will play a key role in day-to-day yard operations under the supervision of senior operators and facility management. This site is classified under COMAH (Control of Major Accident Hazards) and contains regulated risks such as high-pressure gas, noise, and cryogenic hazards—safety is the top priority.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Operating a 2.5-ton counterbalance forklift (valid FLT license required)
- Sorting and unloading gas cylinders and palletised materials
- Supporting the daily operations of the yard and plant facility
- Recording activity for KPI and operational reporting
- Carrying out general housekeeping duties and identifying site maintenance needs
- Following Safety First / Stop for Safety protocols
- Communicating clearly and working as part of a small, multi-functional team
- Adopting a flexible and proactive approach to shift and operational needs
What We’re Looking For
- A current and valid FLT Counterbalance license (2.5T)
- Previous experience in yard work, logistics, or industrial environments (chemical or mechanical background desirable)
- Comfortable working in a high-risk, COMAH-regulated environment
- Good health and fitness level, including manual handling capability and good eyesight
- Strong communication, time management, and teamwork skills
- Punctual, reliable, and open to learning new skills
- Comfortable working in a unionised setting
- Flexible and safety-conscious mindset
