Higher level Teaching Assistants needed in East London. TLTP are recruiting for HLTAs supporting pupils who have Autism. There are no severe behaviour issues; all students are very bright and capable. With their bespoke curriculum, specialist teaching and high levels of social and emotional support, they create fulfilling educational experiences that enable each student to thrive.

They offer access to a range of qualifications, apprenticeships and employability programmes, so that by the time the students leave, they are equipped with the skills, experience and opportunities they need for success in further education, training or employment. Many of their students arrive with communication difficulties or anxieties that have created significant barriers to learning. They take the time to understand each young person’s individual needs, so they can better support them in achieving their full potential.

This school offers specialist education programmes based on the National Curriculum, each personalised to take account of abilities, interests and needs. Students have the opportunity to pursue either GCSEs or Entry Certificates in the core subjects (Maths, English and Science), as well as Arts Award qualifications (Level 1 or 2) in Art and Media, LAMDA for Drama, and Food Tech. They also offer a broad programme of PSHE and life skill development, including Employability, College Transition and Access to Work Placements, with a Social Skills Curriculum and Cognitive Behavioural Approach embedded across all subjects.

Required experience:

  • High level teaching assistant with experience working with pupils who have ASD, ADHD or SEN
  • Passion to work with students who have communication difficulties or anxieties
  • Passion to work with autism
  • Experience teaching or covering lessons
