A growing manufacturing business is searching for a Compliance Assistant to support in the area of Microbiology in the greater Maidstone area.

Your Role

While in this position your duties may include but are not limited to:

  • Collaborating with suppliers to implement relevant policies and standards relating to microbiology
  • Maintaining internal surveillance risk assessments, ensuring that any relevant teams are kept informed of updates
  • Managing the end-to-end surveillance testing process, to include the testing schedule, submissions and the review of results, on a daily basis
  • Coordinating the compliance monitoring process, ensuring that it is highlighted where thresholds have been exceeded
  • Carrying out investigations alongside suppliers to discover root causes and determine solutions for surveillance fails
  • Reviewing risk assessments from growers, in order for suppliers to manage associated risks including food safety, chemical, microbiological and determine responses to adverse weather events
  • Collating relevant compliance documents such as microbiological analysis, raw material and swabs
  • Keep abreast of any changes to legislation or regulatory standards in the sector and ensure these are communicated across the business and adhered to
  • Supporting the delivery of the lab management strategy alongside the collection of data to be used in reporting


You MUST Have:
Please apply ONLY if you meet the following criteria:

  • Possession of a relevant degree in either Food Science, Biological Science or Microbiology
  • Experience or an interest in the food production sector, particularly in how microbiological science is used
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office, with a strong inclination for Excel, PowerPoint and Power BI
  • Strong communication skills, particularly within stakeholder and supplier management
  • An affiliation for project management and good organisational skills to support

Your Opportunity:
Having operated in the food manufacturing sector for decades, the company is recognised as a market leader and supplies an extensive range of products and services. The person in this role will be a crucial part of the team to deliver the surveillance strategy, ensuring that testing processes run smoothly and taking ownership of risk management within the supply chain.

The business is offering a starting salary of up to around £32,000, depending on relevant experience. Alongside this, there will be additional benefits including an enhanced annual leave allowance and very good pension contribution, supplemented by other incentives including a good bonus potential and a range of additional benefits. Additionally, there will be plenty of scope to progress within this role as the business continues to grow and you will be given the tools to expand your knowledge and skillset.
