EC&I Commissioning Technician – Major UK Infrastructure Project
Location: Cumbria
Contract:10 months
Rate: Negotiable (DOE)

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an EC&I Commissioning Technician to join a nationally significant infrastructure project delivering one of the UK’s most complex environmental engineering programmes. This long-term initiative plays a critical role in the safe processing, control, and monitoring of legacy waste, supporting the UK’s clean-up and environmental safety commitments.

Working as part of the commissioning delivery team, you will be hands-on in testing, verifying, and bringing into service a wide range of electrical, control, and instrumentation systems — including safety systems, process instrumentation, and control panels.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain safety as the top priority, adhering to nuclear, radiological, conventional, and environmental safety standards.
  • Perform EC&I commissioning and testing activities at all stages of the project lifecycle.
  • Assist with the preparation and updating of commissioning documentation.
  • Support the implementation of First-Off Builds (FOBs) and Technical Queries (TQs).
  • Carry out system testing for third-party witnessing.
  • Apply and remove Temporary Commissioning Aids where required.
  • Accurately record test results and supporting data.
  • Use completions management systems to track commissioning progress and manage handovers.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary design reviews and collaborate with engineering teams.

Skills & Experience Required:

  • Time-served or equivalent qualification in an electrical, control, or instrumentation discipline.
  • ONC or equivalent (or working towards qualification).
  • Proven experience in project commissioning, ideally in EC&I systems.
  • IOSH Working Safely (or equivalent).
  • Relevant trade card.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to meet client security requirements (BPSS, P4 pass).
