Job Description
As a Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for ensuring commercial success across a range of social housing contracts, identifying opportunities to improve margins and drive project value.\\nYou will be covering the A1 corridor.\\nChelmsford/Essex, Peterborough, Cambridgeshire and other other regions.\\nMust be able to go in to the office in Chelmesford 1 day a week and live within 45 minutes distance from the office.\\nKey Responsibilities:\\n• Full commercial management of construction projects, from inception to final account\\n• Measurement, pricing, and preparation of tender submissions\\nStrong knowledge of SOR coding.\\nRegular site visits\\nScopes of works\\nContract of valuation.\\n• Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities to improve project margins\\n• Carry out regular CVR reporting and forecasting\\n• Manage subcontractor procurement, negotiation, and account administration\\n• Prepare and submit accurate and timely applications for payment\\n• Monitor project budgets and maintain tight cost control throughout the project lifecycle\\n• Ensure compliance with current Health & Safety legislation\\n• Build and maintain effective relationships with suppliers and subcontractors\\nRequired Skills & Experience:\\n• Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within social housing, construction, refurbishment, or void works\\n• Relevant qualifications (AssocRICS) in Quantity Surveying or a related field\\n• Strong understanding of bills of quantities, schedules of rates, and design & build contracts\\n• Demonstrable experience in managing direct and subcontract labour\\n• Excellent commercial awareness and experience in subcontract procurement\\n• Proficient in financial reporting, including CVRs and forecasting\\n• Advanced IT skills, particularly in Microsoft Excel\\n• Capable of working independently and as part of a wider commercial team\\n• Strong time management and organisational skills\\nMinimum 6 years experience in social housing background.\\nPay up to £55,000 basic\\n5k car allowance\\nHours – Monday – Friday – 8am-5pm or 9am-6pm\\nThis is an excellent opportunity for a proactive and commercially astute Quantity Surveyor looking to develop their career with a forward-thinking organisation.
