During your first year, you will develop skills in

- Job Responsibilities
As a Graduate Electrical Engineer, you will contribute to the delivery of building services projects from concept through to completion, working as part of a multidisciplinary team under the guidance of experienced engineers.
You will gain hands-on experience in electrical design, technical coordination, project delivery, and site activities, while developing the skills and knowledge required for a successful career in building services engineering.
The role offers exposure to a wide variety of sectors and project stages, with increasing responsibility as your experience and confidence grow.
- Contributing to the technical design of electrical building services systems
- Undertaking system load calculations and assisting with plant sizing
- Supporting the coordination and sizing of plant rooms and distribution routes
- Preparing technical reports appropriate to each design stage
- Assisting in the development of technical specifications for selected systems and equipment
- Evaluating technical options and documenting design decisions
- Attending project meetings and workshops, learning through discussion and collaboration
- Working with colleagues from other disciplines to broaden technical knowledge
- Supporting the progression of designs through concept, developed, and detailed stages
- Assisting with site inspections and monitoring installations during construction and commissioning
- Gradually taking on increased responsibility for project delivery as your experience develops
Qualifications
- An accredited Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
- Degree accreditation by a relevant professional institution such as CIBSE, IET, or IMech E is preferred.
- A strong interest in building services, sustainable design, and multidisciplinary project delivery.
- Relevant industry experience through internships, placements, work experience, or project-based activities would be advantageous.
- Familiarity with Auto CAD, Revit, BIM processes, or electrical design software would be beneficial but is not essential.
- Excellent communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
- A proactive approach to learning and professional development, with an interest in working toward professional registration (e. g., IEng or CEng) in the future
