We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented FRA Site Inspector to join our growing fire safety consultancy team. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with experience in fire risk assessment, building inspections, and fire safety compliance to work on a diverse portfolio of projects, including high-rise residential and complex building developments. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering fire safety inspections, risk assessments, and technical advice to clients while supporting compliance with current fire safety legislation and building regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct site visits and inspections, preparing detailed technical and site inspection reports.
  • Undertake Fire Risk Assessments (FRAs) across a range of building types.
  • Prepare Fire Risk Appraisals of External Walls (FRAEWs) in accordance with PAS 9980.
  • Provide clear, practical, and technically sound fire safety advice to clients.
  • Review building construction details, drawings, elevations, and design documentation.
  • Attend client, contractor, and design team meetings to support compliance with Building Regulations.
  • Apply guidance from Approved Document B, BS 9999, BS 9991, and other relevant fire safety standards.
  • Support clients in meeting their obligations under the Building Safety Act and associated legislation.
  • Contribute to the delivery of consultancy projects and maintain strong client relationships.

Desirable Experience

  • Experience conducting site inspections and preparing technical reports.
  • Experience carrying out Fire Risk Assessments (FRAs).
  • Experience preparing FRAEWs in accordance with PAS 9980.
  • Strong understanding of building construction and design, particularly high-rise residential buildings.
  • Experience providing fire safety advice across a variety of building types.
  • Experience working within a consultancy environment.
  • Familiarity with Building Regulations and fire safety guidance documents.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Degree or equivalent qualification in Fire Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Construction industry background, such as surveying, clerk of works, or similar.
  • Good understanding of PAS 9980 methodology.
  • Ability to review and interpret technical drawings, elevations, and construction details.
  • Working knowledge of the Building Safety Act.
  • Understanding of the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects.

Professional Memberships

  • Membership of, or working towards membership with, the Institution of Fire Engineers (IFE) or a similar professional body.
