Physical industries like energy, utilities, and infrastructure underpin our economy and daily lives. Yet many of the organizations responsible for them are constrained by fragmented processes, fragile legacy systems, and decades-old ways of working. These organizations must manage aging assets, deliver major infrastructure programs, meet tighter standards, and keep essential services running. Cogna helps them solve the operational problems that slow this work down. Our AI platform captures the context behind complex workflows and turns it into AI-native applications that help teams work faster, more accurately, and more reliably.

Since our launch in May 2023, we've seen very strong customer traction and revenue growth. We're backed by leading VCs, including Notion Capital and Hoxton Ventures, and we're building a world-class team to take on one of the most important challenges of our time. We're a team of around 80 today, on a path to Series B and scaling towards 150. Making an impact at this scale takes people who are curious, adaptable, and motivated by purpose. We are committed to building a diverse team that reflects the industries and societies we serve.

As a Solutions Analyst, you will work alongside more senior members of the Solutions team working on some of our biggest enterprise accounts. You will play a critical role in both the discovery and delivery of our precision software that addresses critical customer problems. This position requires a unique blend of problem decomposition skills, data & technical expertise, and client-facing diplomacy. You will be instrumental in identifying key opportunities, using our platform to then Discover, Define and Deliver precision solutions and ensuring those solutions are used by our customers to deliver on their objectives.

Our Solutions Analysts work across the project lifecycle from end to end from seeking out new opportunities at customers, through project definition, delivery and rollout. The role blends the most interesting, and challenging, parts of Forward Deployed Engineering roles, Deployment Strategists, Customer Success, Value Engineering and more into a uniquely Cogna-shaped package. And while we can tell you what the role looks like today, Cogna continues to grow and evolve at pace, meaning we have no certainty around what the role looks like in 12 months - it's up to you to help shape it.

What you’ll do

  • Client Engagement: Work directly with customers to understand their challenges and objectives. Lead discovery sessions to map out crucial processes and identify areas that Cogna can address via our products.
  • Relationship Management: Build strong internal relationships across the solutions team and with engineering, and understand when (and when not) to involve others.
  • Solution Definition and Delivery: Use the Cogna platform to work with the customer in Defining suitable solutions that our platform can Deliver, and ensuring we never diverge from a product-focused lens that delivers exponential value for our customers.
  • Training, Support and Continuous Improvement: Provide comprehensive training to customers on the solutions we Deliver, ensuring they are equipped to maximize the benefits of the new systems. Offer ongoing support and advice post-deployment to ensure continued value.
  • Industry Expertise: Maintain an up-to-date understanding of trends and innovations in utilities, energy, manufacturing, and construction sectors to inform strategic decisions and technological advancements.

What we’re looking for

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related STEM field.
  • At least two years of proven experience in a job where solving client problems using software/product was core to the role: this could be product management, systems engineering, a deployment strategist role.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to solve complex problems under pressure.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to manage stakeholder expectations across diverse groups.
  • Experience writing code, using AI-enabled IDEs, and manipulating data.
  • Ability to articulate complex concepts in a clear and compelling manner.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, manage multiple projects simultaneously and deal with ambiguity.
  • Experience in the utilities, energy, manufacturing, or construction industries is a bonus.
  • Willingness to travel as needed to meet with clients and oversee deployments.

What we offer

  • Competitive salary and share option plan
  • 25 days annual leave, plus public holidays
  • Excellent pension scheme, fixed to 7.5%
  • Private healthcare, including family cover and pre-existing conditions
  • Flexible hybrid working with 2 days per fortnight in our Farringdon office
  • Regular social events and offsites
  • Access to a gym and fitness classes in our office building

How to prepare for a job interview at Notion Capital

Brush Up on Your Coding Skills

For a full-time software engineering role, it's crucial that we stay sharp with our coding abilities. Expect technical questions that might involve solving problems on the spot or discussing algorithms. Practise on platforms like LeetCode or HackerRank to get comfortable with the types of questions that often come up.

Know Your Tools and Frameworks

Make sure we’re well-acquainted with the tools and technologies listed in the job description. Familiarise ourselves with any specific frameworks or programming languages mentioned. If Notion Capital uses React or Node.js, for instance, be ready to discuss how we’ve used them in previous projects or coursework.

Showcase Your Projects

Bring along a portfolio that highlights our best work. This could be code samples, GitHub repositories, or any side projects we’ve built. Make sure we can talk through our thought process for each project, especially the challenges we faced and how we solved them—this shows our problem-solving skills in action.

Prepare for Behavioural Questions

While technical skills are key, full-time positions also require cultural fit. Be ready to discuss our previous experiences and how we handle teamwork, conflict, and deadlines. Brush up on the STAR method—Situation, Task, Action, Result—to clearly articulate our past experiences when discussing how we've contributed to a team.
