About the Service

A small, Ofsted-registered children’s home providing care and accommodation for up to three children and young people aged 8–17 (on admission). Admissions are carefully planned to ensure the needs of each young person, alongside those already living in the home, can be safely and effectively met. The service offers a safe, warm, and nurturing environment, with a strong emphasis on emotional wellbeing, behavioural understanding, and positive social development. The home operates on a therapeutic, child-centred ethos where behaviour is viewed as communication, and progress is achieved through understanding, consistency, and supportive relationships. Designed to give young people stability, structure, and the opportunity to develop the skills and confidence they need to move forward positively when ready.

The Role

We are seeking an experienced Registered Manager to take full operational responsibility for the home. You will lead a small, dedicated team and ensure the service consistently delivers high-quality, compliant, and emotionally informed care. This is a hands-on leadership role where you will set standards, shape culture, and ensure the home operates in line with Ofsted requirements and Children’s Homes Regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the overall operation of the home
  • Ensure safe, consistent, and high-quality care for up to 3 young people
  • Lead, support, and develop a small residential staff team
  • Maintain full compliance with Ofsted regulations and statutory requirements
  • Oversee individual care planning and ensure tailored support for each young person
  • Promote a nurturing, therapeutic approach to behaviour and emotional wellbeing
  • Ensure strong safeguarding systems are in place and consistently followed
  • Manage staffing, rotas, and budgets effectively
  • Build strong relationships with external professionals and stakeholders
  • Drive continuous improvement and maintain high standards of care

About You

  • Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or equivalent)
  • Proven experience as a Registered Manager or strong Deputy Manager ready to step up
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding and residential childcare regulations
  • Experience working with children with emotional and behavioural needs (EBD/SEMH desirable)
  • Confident leader able to manage a small team effectively
  • Strong communication, organisation, and decision-making skills
  • Calm, consistent, and resilient under pressure
  • Passionate about therapeutic, child-centred care and improving outcomes
